Cell Phone Numbers Go Public?

Not specifically an Airstream subject - but I received an E-mail notice today telling me that our cell phone numbers went public on September 24, 2008 - opening us up to unsolicited telemarketing calls. They provided an 888 number to contact the "no call" office but I'm not going to perpetuate the hoax if that's what it is. It's either BS or I'm simply out of the loop. Has anyone else heard about this?

I have used the federal no call list to register three land lines and two cell phones. The only "junk" calls I get on my cell phone are from Alltel!

I agree with you Denis. I have registered my land line and two cell phones. I have seen this message before about the "no call". As a banker by profession I have to make sure that if I solicite business from a person they are not on the "no call list" This No Call deal is for real.

There is also an online place U can check to make sure all your phones are registered
Both my numbers are registered Ok. But if U have ever done business with any company via your phones they can call U. Thats the deal breaker.

Yeah, and those dam politicians keep calling my land line. On the no call list and unlisted.. I hate it... I've told my credit card companies to not call... The one's that do especially after 5pm get a few choice words over the phone...

Places that you have a "business relationship" with can call you, no matter how many times you put your number on the DNC list. Also, non-profits, and politicos, can call you.

When these folks call, and I tell them I am on the "do not call list", they usually inform me that they are not subject to that list. At that point, I tell them that their exemption was not my doing, and their calls are just as unwelcome. Sometimes, I am not very nice to those callers.

Oh well......................

Hi, if I remember correctly, business's can only call you within one year from your last contact with them.
