Any RV Net + Air Forums members out there?

I was just sitting here listening to the RV service net while browsing the forums and realized how close that was to an AS overdose.

Any other forums members check in on the HF RV nets?

Best Regards,

What freq. do they operate on? I assume that it is LSB. It might be fun to tune in if they are on this time of the morning, as I have a radio that isn’t tuned into a weather fax station at that time.

Google RV Service Net, and you will find the page.

Welcome to the forums! Looks cold where you are, judging by your avatar.

Schedules are post on the WBCCI Site
As Usual they want money to join. They are at 7.230 @0700-0900 and there is a 80 meter schedule there also. I am not aware of anyone starting or hosting an AIRFORUMS NET. I would join if there is.

Steve--

Welcome to the forums. I'm over on the West Slope of Portland and things are finally starting to thaw. I'll need to post some pics of the AS, it was very streamlined with snow form a graceful spoiler over the skyliner and Asmstrong AS as to make it invisbile.

I can see my AC today.

I missed the RV Service Net today, but I’ll try tomorrow

Cold and Snow.
Yes, and another foot came yesterday and last night. I may have put the Airstream to close to the shop, because as the snow slides off it will start to lean against the trailer if we get any more.

Here is a picture of the shop and trailer.

You got *way* more snow that Portland, but I'm envious of your shop. I'm a ham as well, but play with 2M and 440... did HF when I was younger.

They do want money to join, but one may check in daily with out being a paying member. An AirForums net is a worth a look, too. Anyone interested in such a thing?

I thought that it would be fun to listen in. I don’t have a transceiver, but the idea of an informal group may help some of us newbies.

I got my call sign KC7UVL 12 years ago or so. A friend and I were studying together with plans to have someone to talk to after we got our licenses. At that time the only place in the Columbia River Gorge area to go to for testing was in Goldendale, Washington, and only once a month. I was able to make the trip to a testing session and pass the technician test after the second try, but my friend couldn't make the trip. Kids, life, Internet, cell phones, and lack of money got in the way for both of us over the years. I was not able to afford a transceiver at the time when my interest was the strongest, and my energy went in other directions when I could have bought several radios. I have around a dozen radios setup HF, VHF, and UHF. I have played a little with video, wefax from HF, wefax from polar orbiting weather satellites and am interested in setting up a receiving station for Geo stationary satellite weather faxes. All of my big radios have an “R” as the lead letter, R71A, R5000, R7100, RX320D etc.

Anne-Marie and I are planning to go full time when the weather breaks this spring and I am confronted with too much radio stuff and not enough places to put them in the Airstream.

You don’t know what you can’t do until you give it a try and then you can perpetually be only a few clicks away from making it work.

I did HF when I was younger... let my license laspe and then got the new codeless tech back in 91. I only do VHF now since IMHO all the cool stuff is done on the higher freqs. I'm a computer geek so it meshes in well. Another plus of the VHF... it's usually smaller and has more descrete antenna.

That said, I'm normally just use the ham stuff for safety. I have the tendence to take the land rovers into the darnest spots that have never seen cell reception and it a warm fuzzy knowing I can flip the 2M to 50W and hit a repeater if needed.

Ron,

I have tried every morning to tune in the Rv net, and I can't receive them at all on 7230kz. I am using a long wire, 70ft east west-50ft north south.

Are you able to receive the RV at all?

That should be good. Long wire should do it. Check your Dials ,make sure the calb is rite. Maybe they are not active, could be the reason U can hear them. I sent an email to the net director but as usual because Im not a WBCCI member I got no response, at least thats my feeling anyway. I have not tried to listen yet I dont get up that early.
Ill give a shot one day. They cant Charge me for listening, lol .I'd like to hear from Someone that is active on the Rv nets.

At 5:00AM PST I tried all of the eastcoast freqs 3958, 3963, and 7230Khz LSB. All that I could hear was an Asian AM station off in the distance on 7230. I'm using a Icom R71A and a Kenwood R5000.

I did not find the RV Nets folks to particularly interested in new people and new ideas even when I was a wbcci member.

The Rockies section starts at 0800 CST, it operates on 7263 khz, Mon-Fri, 0800-0900 CST. The second hour(0900-1000 CST), the Rockies net moves to 7268.5 khz, as some other net uses the 7263 freq.

The east coast bunch operates seven days a week, 0700-0900 EST, on 7230 khz.

The 20 meter net operates at 1200 and 1700 EST on 14,307.5 khz, Mon-Fri.
