Verizon Coverage Locator

You can enter a zipcode at this site, and find out the level of coverage for anywhere you are going.

Or you can use a free app like OpenSignal to look on your phone and it will allow you to see any or the major carriers' signal maps as recorded by actual people

We were just up in Wisconsin, a fairly remote area. The Verizon map, using the zip code, says we were in tall cotton, but in actuality, the signal was not very good. Even with 3G showing, still no data. Cell coverage was better than data, but still somewhat spotty.

Using the OpenSignal app, you get a much better picture of coverage. Sitting at home I can see what others have experienced in that same area and it's nowhere as good as what the Verizon map shows.

I have added OpenSignal to my phone. It's fairly easy to use, gets a 4.3 on Google App store and starts you off with a tutorial.

I use an app called 'Coverage?' and I have found it to be very reliable.

I found this link this am, and just wanted to share it, tho cannot vouch for its accuracy so good to hear it looks better than it actually is.

I just bought a cell booster for my phone, and it does work....something is better than nothing.

I use a Verizon Jet Pack for my data in the AS. When I don't get a good signal I put it on the end of a 10' PVC conduit pipe (less than $10 at Lowes) and attach a charger and extension cord, wrap it all up in a baggie and attach to something, like the awning. It's worked great so far. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Currently visiting the UP of Michigan. Very limited Verizon out of town. Pretty solid signal in most villages.
