We have ATT Uverse at our home for TV / Internet, etc. Therefore, a satelite dish requires a seperate contract with DISH or Direct TV (and dupicated cost).

I ran across a new product called Slinbox that would allow you to "sling" your ATT Uverse cable TV service to a remote location via the internet.

Sounds like it would be just the thing! Does anyone have experience with this product?

The only thing you might have trouble with given your configuration is if you buy the top-end Slingbox and try to ship HD video to yourself on the road. Uverse really hammers the data connection when you're watching an HD feed, and trying to send an HD signal back upstream while you're pulling down an HD feed via the vdsl might result in unsatisfactory results. It should work fine for standard-def channels, though, if you have enough bandwidth wherever your Airstream is parked.

If you're one of the many Uverse customers who has to periodically restart the Residential Gateway periodically (at one point my neighbor had to do that almost daily) then you should realize that if it gets into that state while you're away, you'll probably have no access to the Slingbox.

I saw that today as I was paying a dish tv bill I went to chat with them about...I am glad you posted something about it.
I use a laptop mostly and was trying to figure that out how it works etc.
