Search function + laptop
When using my laptop only, I can't enter anything in the search boxes. Soon as I put the cursor in the block to start typing, the search drop down closes. It is soooo annoying! Anyone have any ideas?

Can you give us more info about what software you are using on your laptop?
Windows version (or Apple)
Browser and version
Thanks,
Paul

Did it to me too.
I tried turning Scroll Lock on and off, logged off and back on.
Somewhere along the line I got the Search by Thread Tag screen up,
and the same thing happened to me.
I use Windows XP and IE too.
Try logging off and logging back on again.

Well all be - completing all my Windows Updates seemed to alleviate the issue. But I did get the blue screen of death trying to update java. Seems okay on the restart! Thanks for the help. Back to searching

miners need to keep their tools fresh!
one useful trick when digging into the archives is 2...
control/click (or use the other mouse/track pad button) on 'search' in the menu...
this will allow the advanced search option to completely open in a NEW window.
multiple search windows can be opened simultaneously this way,
which is handy when searching several terms or concepts.
cheers

A new computer running XP seems strange, unless of course it is the company standard. I mean most new PC's now come with 7 preloaded, or at least Vista.

Some corporations won't buy anything beyond XP since their support function costs too much to upgrade every time Micro$oft feels like changing a few things to be able to sell more boxes.
