That was pretty much tongue in cheek considering he said at the end he put the video together with a Macintosh and closed with, "Mac kills my inner child".

For all these 20 plus years Iíve heard others complaining about problems with their PC. Most Mac users will be like me and not understand why they have so many issues. We rarely do.

On the other hand, we have Apple Care. Day or night, 7 days a week, we can call a 1-800 # and talk to a specialist.

Apple makes the machine AND the operating system. There is no equal to this in the world. They have never failed to fix a problem or find out what I was doing wrong.

Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple Computer recently said:

That is likely the main reason they are so far ahead in so many areas.

I hope to remember his advice as I remodel my ARGOSY.

An FYI for Mac users

Lack of history doesn't mean Macs are invulnerable. Especially since they're operating Windoze these days! There is a trojan that attacks Macs if you visit websites much less reputable than AIR Forums. I saw this end of last week: Mac Users Get A Credit Card Stealing Trojan for Halloween, Security Company Reports | Threat Level from Wired.com

Here is a screenshot of the trojan in action:

It's important to understand what a "Trojan" is...

A Trojan is a program just like any other program that might be loaded on your system to perform tasks. For a Trojan to work, however, the user must perform several steps that anyone with an IQ over room temperature would not likely perform.

First, you have to download the Trojan app. Then, you have to open it so it can do it's nasty business. People who download apps from untrustworthy or unknown sites and then authorize their use are just asking for trouble.

Notice that a Trojan is not the fault of an operating system and that there is no way to write software to protect against one. Safety rests with the human user. Fortunately, Macs require a deliberate action from users to download, authenticate, and launch an app, all of which protects the computer user.

Be careful out there, but don't think that every vulnerability is either preventable by some third-party security software or that the existence of a vulnerability is some defect in the OS.

I suppose you are referring to this part of the post above:

I am wireless with an Airport Extreme at home and an Airport Express out in the country with the trailer.

To clarify, I actually have the Airport Express in my HOUSE in the country. I am renovating the trailer out in the front drive, probably 70 to 100 feet away, but I have taken the iBook out to the remodel from time to time and I do get a weak but mostly useable signal there.

Maybe I should test the signal just outside the trailer to see if the aluminum makes a difference. (Radio signals are seriously affected by the aluminum shell)

I am not a sophisticated Mac user so I didnít even know about antennas until this thread appeared.

Theyíre one more new thing Iíll have to learn about.

Coming up to 20 years as a Mac user. Started with an SE + 9" Mono screen. I upgraded it to 4 megs of RAM and felt like a king! Lol! It had a GUI better than Windows nearly 10 years before it arrived! Thank God for the return of the Megalomaniac Steve Jobs and that well known toilet designer, Jonathan Ive! Lol! iMacs, iPods, iPhones - brilliant!!

We're lucky to have a son who took my advice and bought Apple stock at about $3.75 a share when Steve Jobs returned. Over time he has sold a bit at peaks and bought back when the price has dipped. His last purchase was a bunch at $59/share. The closing price today was just shy of $200/share.

So what does this budding stock picking genius do with his riches? Also, lucky for us, he buys us Apple gifts to bolster his stock investments. The latest is a fully tricked out iMac with a spectacular 24-inch monitor. I never knew that my pics looked so good until I saw them full screen on this iMac.

Oh, he also threw in an Apple TV. Great kid.

We shipped the old iMac to our granddaughter in Chicago so now we can video iChat with her each day. That's how Apple brings people closer together better than any other company in the business.

Perhaps the most interesting thing to come from sending the iMac to our granddaughter was that her mother has decided to buy herself an iMac too. She's totally disgusted with Vista and she and her husband are tired of purchasing anti-everything software that degrades performance and wastes valuable time. For years, both of them have ignored our suggestions to get a Mac. It took just a week of seeing how easy and intuitive the Mac OS is to convince them that it was time to chuck their Dells. Our daughter works for AT&T and our son-in-law works for IBM. Both are tech savvy but it took a few day using a Mac to bring them out from behind the Iron Curtain.

Mac runs on an OLD OS. It was developed on the NeXT computers. Macs also now run the the same hardware with any other PC. They are ok, but so are the BestBuy Pc's. Here is a link for the NeXt pc/mac.

Another thing, I don't see Apple on the cutting edge of ANYTHING! Where is thier VOIP, (SIP enabled) system? Where is thier CRM, Exchange, Sharepoint, IIS, SQL, or even thier OWN VM???? You don't see it! Apple isn't a player in the Enterprise network at all!!

Mac and PC

I'm Mac at home, and free-lance, and PC at work. Used to be Mac and Mac, before that... and Mac at work and PC at home, then before that PC at work and home, and before that nothing at work and PC and Commodore at home. I'll play and work on any platform. I'm currently one of 5 professional Vidiots (spelled video editors) at the largest retail advertising agency in the U.S. However, if pushed to choose only one platform, it would have to be Mac! My fellow editors at work totally disagree with me, but they're Vidiots!

Smart, successful companies learn to pick their battles carefully. Comparative advantage does not mean doing everything yourself or doing what others do. If you don't think Apple is on the cutting edge of anything, perhaps a visit to an Apple store will disabuse you of this opinion. Or, perhaps, MCSEs are not permitted to be disabused of notions instilled by the Lords of Redmond.

I have always wondered how the number crunching capabilities compared between the PC and MAC. On my PC, the poll results add up to exactly 100%. Just curious, what do the poll results total for you MAC owners?

Thanks
Dale

What, since Windows copied the Mac OS? What about everything that starts with "i"? iMac, iPod, iPhone. Yup, nothing new there.
