Same here. I have an excellent "National Access" signal (Verizon) here, which is as slow as dial-up, but no broadband. Ironically, I live in the middle of five acres of paradise in most populous part of the county, but there is no broadband. Yet, the western part of our county, which is mostly comprised of swampland and cow pastures, has wall to wall EVDO coverage.

Go figure.

Lovingtahoe...I'm a graphic dsigner as well...there is no "cumulative limit" to the amount of data that can be transfered (on Alltel, at least)...and though there are limitations to the size of attachments to emails... if you are uploading/downloading to/from and FTP site there isn't a limit to the size of the upload/download since it's not an attachment to an takes longer than what you're used to with DSL or cable service, but it does get there...I've experiented to make sure of this by uploading large test files to printers via several FTP sites... That's my work-around to file limits to emails...

i too considered dropping my cable connection at home, but haven't yet...

i'm in a broadband area so it has been tempting...

and upload/download speeds just keep getting faster, with the automatic software upgrades.

it was pretty cool during a power outage last year...

with the laptop, air card (and several mac batteries) i was able to stay on line....

i even dropped into the local apple retail store (they were also without power) and connected there too....

the verizon download limit is 5 GB! per month, thats a HUGE pile folks.

i've never gotten within 1/3 of that even downloading software and a few movies...

i don't do tunes, but the service rep said the limit is basically to catch (illegal file sharing) and folks that download 24/7...

backing up data online (like to .mac) apparently doesn't count against the limit...

i would guess this ceiling will go up with the next network version or as competitors catch up.

all of the true things that i am about to tell you are shameless lies. l.b.j.

we are here on earth to fart around. don't let anybody tell you any different. k.v.
