Install Weboost mast antenna without attaching to body
I want to use the Weboost and telescoping antenna pole but I don’t want to attach it to the body of the Airstream. Has anyone installed the antenna mast/pole to just the tongue? We have a 25’ Flying Cloud FB so all the electrical stuff is right up front.
Thanks

Looking to do the same. We have a 30' FC Bunk and was thinking to have the wires tucked in towards the front/hitch and set up some sort of support where we could connect the pole when we're parked. The connection point would need to be sturdy with another support further up to extend the full 25'. Following..

Install Weboost mast antenna without attaching to body
Consider a steel or aluminum plate big enough to park one or two trailer tires on, with a sturdy, well-braced pipe you can put the bottom of the mast over.

New to this and tried to post a link. There is a suction cup antenna mount from TechnoRV that may do the job.

We have a bicycle rack on the back of our 23FB. Mounted a pcb pipe about 2 foot long, cap the end with a plug with small holes so the rain will drain out. Antenna is attached to a paint extension pole. Works great.

I use a 20' telescoping flag pole to get my weboost antenna as high as possible. Oftentimes it's height you need to get a usable signal. I bolted a pair of 2" steel "L" brackets at the very top of the pole. The magnetic base of the short weboost antenna snaps to the brackets, the pole goes up and I bungee it at the top and the bottom of the awning bracket of the trailer. 2 mins to deploy, 2 mins to remove. Way better than the under tire type IMO. The bungee approach prevents the pole from banging into the trailer in wind. The unusual antenna draws questions at every campground... an ice breaker to meeting new people.

Hi
How much do you watch the wind forecast? High winds are the issue with antenna masts. What works "most of the time" may not work in crazy weather.

We just did this this week! We have a 2008 25FB We bought a aluminum flagpole at Harbor Freight. Then we added a PVC pipe to the front hitch and dropped the flagpole (with flag) and ran the cable for the booster through the pole. At the top we have a truckers antenna (looks like a black cylinder) The cable then enters into the bedroom through the storage compartment right behind the propane tanks. Then it goes down the wall DC plug under the television and then the cable continues to run tight along the top of the wall past the shower and past the refrigerator. The "candy bar" receiver is Velcro-ed high above the television in the gaucho area.

Antenna Connection to I Internal Modem and Equipment Placement
Great advice in previous posts for antenna location. What/where is the best way to bring the cable into the AS with minimal drilling or screen cutting. Also internal location of equipment. Thanks.

Can you share some of the threads as to where the best placement is?

Uncle Bob has it just right. As windsurfers, we travel to high wind areas and I can assure your that telescoping masts will not fare well in winds over 20mph! And bungee cords—yikes!!! Consider the damage of the mast slamming into your beautiful silver bullet!
Please make sure you pay attention to forecasts of wind velocity and direction. If possible, have two available mounts—one at front and one at rear-to make sure the wind is blowing the mast away from your coach!
When flying small flags in winds up to 25 (we fuel tfem after that) , we have learned to create a free standing mount away from the trailer.
If you know you’re in low wind areas, no prob—I especially like the plate with welded pipe over which you can place the mast base. As long as the wind isn’t coming directly over the nose, this should be able to safely handle winds up to maybe 15 mph gusts (not the same as the average wind!!!!)

I have 2017 FC... mounted SkyPro WIFI unit on roof with 30LB VSB tape etc. (nothing is pulling that off!), routed combined ether/power wire down through roof vent for fridge/freezer (did not need to remove at all, just price up the grill on top of vent and into the compartment above fridge freezer and connected to wifi router there... then fished router 12v cable back into void being fridge/freezer and connected to 12v block for fridge. Easy peasy. One very small hole in back of cabinet was all that was required and install cannot be seen from inside. Helps to have two people but I pulled the fridge forward a bit to get good access for wire fishing (which was the hardest part). Hope this helps.

I wonder if the suction cup mount on the side of the Airstream could cause some separation of the nearest sealant joint for the panel you attach to given how much the wind moves the antenna mast some days.
I use the Flagpole Buddy attached to our Fiamma rack in the back of our 25 rear bed Airstream and tie it into the Satellite Antenna connection on the side of the Airstream.
I could see using a plate on the ground and drive a tent stake through it to keep it from moving. Then attach the mount similar to the Flagpole Buddy's to the front A-frame.
Here is what I have:

Here is an example of the plate that one could drill a hole or two in for tent stakes:

Mounting antenna
I have mounted my antenna on a extended boat hook pole (West Marine- extends to 16’) using metal pipe hangers (Lowe’s). I used 4 of them- 2 attach to the tongue jack and 2 attach to the pole with SS threaded bolt material in between. Very easy and inexpensive.

Install WeBoost
Here are some pictures of how I mounted my WeBoost antenna to my AS and how I brought the cables into the trailer. I drilled a 2 1/2” holes thru each skin and mounted electrical input doors on each side with closed cell foam in-between to push the cables through.

The suction cup works well. I use it and put the cup on the windows. I then route the wire through the storage compartment and under the bed. I don’t have to drill any holes, and when I’m done I shut everything up tight. Before you decide which side of the AS you put it on walk around AS with phone and figure out the best reception.
