Thumbs up HOW TO: Better Cable Management at the Dinette - 2 inch Grommet

*Wasn't sure where to put this, so here it is.

Since we're full-timing and working from the road, I wasn't happy about wires wrapping around the kitchen dinette. And didn't want wires running up between it and the wall. As it'd be difficult to pull them out when needed.

So I installed a 2 inch cable management grommet in the table.

First thing I did was tape off the area to be drilled out with 2inch blue painters tape to prevent any splintering of the laminate. And then drilled my hole.

After that, vacuumed up, removed tape, installed grommet. Done.

Probably going to add a Cordie next.

Nice job, B/A.

Could have been factory installed.

It'll soon be showing up as a customizable option at JC, is my guess.

With the number of devices and gadgets that we all have today, Airstreams need to come from the factory with one of these.

I just didn't like having my plugs dangling over the edge, too easy to get caught on your leg when getting up, and this is just cleaner looking. Plus, the grommet was only $2 and I already had the drill & hole saw.

Cool! I ordered a Cordie to attach inside a closet door and hang my various USB cables.

Forgive me for I am about to snark....

Near our apt, there is a neighborhood that has its own horse stables and sports fields and a community garden. Next to the community garden is about 3/4 of a soccer field. Being a lifelong soccer and baseball fan, I am always sorely tempted to take a pic and paraphrasing one of the best lines from "Field of Dreams" ask "what darned fool plows up a perfectly good soccer field to plant vegetables?"

Which of course begs the question..... "who puts a hole in a perfectly good table top?"

But nice job on that especially in that you are a full timer with a need to control the cables.
