Broadband Access with a PC Wireless Card

Hi--I am considering a Verizon Wireless PC 5740 card to use with my Toshiba Satellite laptop PC, mainly in Kissimmee FL (Sherwood Forest CG). According to the Verizon signal map, there should be a strong signal in the area. Would be interested in any commments from those using this, or a similiar system. Also, are there any problems with reception inside the A/S. My current Verizon cell phone works OK in the A/S.--Frank S

Have one, works great! I always get at least 156K up/down loads and some times even up to a meg. in some key spots.

I use one while traveling and find it to be pretty decent. Basicly the card is using a dial up connection being processed through the internal modem. Speeds according to cell signal strength in your area.

Hi rideair, Phil Gobie, & Riley--Thanks for the quick response. I will get the Verizon card, and give it a try.

The A/S Forum is a great forum, as members respond promptly with meaningful solutions, and comments, based on experience.--Frank S

Interesting to hear this. I have thought about getting this as well. I sort of hate to give up my current ISP though which is a local cable company that has very fast up/downloads (500-1500) and spectacular service.

But of course, it is only local and not much cheaper than Verizon at $39.99. I guess when we get the AS fixed and on the road again I may have to change as I use my computer for darn near everything.
