Anyone use Comcast Inter and Phone at home

I am looking for information from anyone that uses Comcast Internet and Phone service from their home.

Comcast will only quote general numbers and claims not to have information on the secondary charges thus making an apples to apples comparison hard.

Howie,
I can tell you that I have the Comcast Bundle which started out at $99, and every 12 months climbs I am now at $135. One of the bad points, when power goes out you lose all 3 services not very convenient.

Is that $135.00 ALL INCLUSIVE or are there taxes, 911 fees and other charges added to that? If is the secondary charges I am trying to get a handle on.

If they can't tell you how much it costs you should probably go another route. I had this bundle for a couple of years, with tv cable, phone and internet. The cable internet was fast but not more reliable than my Verizon usb modem is. Like any internet service, the farther you are from the origination of service, the worse your connection will be. At busy times I couldn't log onto the internet occassionaly. I would not go with them again. And as Pintoman stated above, they raise your rates like you were getting improved service or something. What a hoax.

There are taxes, 911 fees and cable modem rental added to that. However, you can buy the modem from Best Buy or elsewhere and save $5/month. The modem costs between $80 - $100.

Contact the Cable regulating agency in your state and they will usually get you the pricing information you want.

I had Comcast for one year at $100 for all three: phone unlimited, internet unlimited, and basic cable. After 12 months the tried to get me to go for $170. I said no. They countered with $119 for an additional 12 months. The Tax in Illinois makes it $122 total. I am satisfied so far. We will have to see what they offer next year. I have a pay as you go Cellphone. Clear channel is entering our area and offering unlimited 4G for $60/mo for internet and phone (at home and Cell) .( no TV). Dish is offering basic service for $24/mo. If Comcast raises their rates again next year I might look at that combination or ATT Uverse for $120.

Well I may have gotten my answer on Comcast. On Sunday Morning they interviewed a woman that had been on hold with Comcast so long on a Friday that when they returned to the phone they told her the people she needed had gone home and to call Monday. Monday she went into their office and took a sledge hammer to their computers.

Comcast has always had very poor customer service in the Jersey area that and the fact I have Directv is why I would not consider them for TV. I was interested in converting from Verizon for internet and phone because of Verizon's poor service but I guess I am stuck for a while.

You can get the phone modem with a battery back up inside. So at least you keep the telephone.

I wonder if the woman with the sledgehammer would be convicted by a jury?

Comcast is often said to be the most hated corporation in the US.

Our choices in the boonies are limited. Fortunately we have a wireless broadband provider who does a good job. When I wanted to upgrade to HDTV I couldn't figure out Direct TV's pricing and I decided to stick with Dish. When I looked up prices for Direct on the internet, it seemed they tried to hide the prices, a bad sign. Some of their people on the phone have some issues with English—you get someone somewhere else, so I hang up, and try again until I get a native speaker—some calls go to US people. I almost gave up on them it was so frustrating. The charges go up and up and are incomprehensible. But I know the channel numbers by heart after 10 years. The picture is almost always very good. We also have a telephone land line because cell service is spotty here.

All this is costing around $142/month, I think. My first phone in 1962 cost $8/month and it wasn't even a party line. I could get some Philadelphia TV stations—50 miles away—for free in beautiful black and white!

Now it seems most cable, satellite, phone company and broadband providers compete to see who can provide the worst service. Because there is little competition in most places, and they are in the habit of screwing people, and there's little or no regulation, these guys can get away with a lot.

We plan on moving to New Mexico if we can sell our house during our lifetimes and the area we are looking at is a Comcast town. I'll avoid them and hope we can get broadband from someone else.
