It does lose strength, but is certainly easier than ripping ceiling panels out. Ours had the cable running down the main long ceiling panel, after removing the a/c and vents, it wasn't too bad to get apart. A helper is mandatory.

one little matinence tip about bat wings new or old. make sure the tips of the wings do not touch the roof of your trailer when folded.

they can saw nice little slots in the aluminum in short order.

usually this is because they get bent or one or more of the little rubber feet are missing.
