The description mentions iPhone 5 and iPhone 6. Is it not compatible with iPhone 4s? I thought if my wife got a new iPhone 6 we could use her old iPhone 4s for a dedicated monitor and music player and photo viewer.

It might work but be slow. Processing power I think is the key to the newer iPhones.

As one of the owners and developers of this rear view camera system, please let me chime in. We tested an iPhone 4S and found that while it would pick up the signal, its performance was marginal at best. It would only work in a vertical position and even then there was a lot of image distortion. I would not recommend a 4S. However, the 5, 6, and 6+ all work great as several other posters have attested. I attribute the difference to the faster microprocessors of the 5, 6, and 6+.

The iPhone 5, 6, and 6+ will still accept phone calls and text messages while in use as a camera display. When the call is over or message read, all you have to do is press the camera icon and you will be immediately returned to the camera view.

My recommendation would be to, as you said, while traveling use the 4S for other apps such as music, photos, etc. and use the 6 with its larger screen size for rear view camera display.

Also, I actually prefer the 6's screen size over the 6+. It's plenty large to see what's behind in 3 lanes of traffic. IMO, the 4S screen would be too small even if it worked.

Do you know the name of the back up camera? We go to Costco alot, so I'd like to check it out. My husband won't be able to go to a rally we usually go to in March...(I've towed the 25ft FC, but never backed it in), so rather than cancel, I'd love to have this to help me out. Although, there are always plenty of nice people to help you out.

Just ordered the iPhone wireless back up camera system! I already have an iPhone 6 and have it mounted and attached to power when I drive. Only question is whether I will need to install a horizontal mount. Right now it only sits vertically in a permanent mount.

Newbie with '75 Argosy and a new Voyager Wireless backup camera. It works great. Wired into the center running light. Came with the bracket. Wanted to put it on the license plate but that was too low, so mounted it above the running light. Can see the cars that are tail-gating and the power pole I am about to swipe when backing up. The factory installed backup camera on the tow vehicles works great as a hitch camera because it is mounted above the license plate.

I got my camera from rvrearviewcamera.com a few days ago.

The instructions were emailed to me the day I ordered, so I familiarized myself with them before the package arrived. After I received it, I did the 'quick set up' in my living room to test everything out. All worked fine. Since I let them know (as requested) how I was planning to use it, the camera was preset to show the video upside down, as I am going to mount it upside down, which will turn the video back where it should be.

I took everything out to my Sport 16 and tried it again (but without mounting the camera yet). With it running I walked around outside with my iPhone 6. The hd color video is sharp, bright and without noticeable lag. So far I am very pleased. The best part, of course, is that there is no wiring required. The camera and router are both on a self-contained wifi (that is, you take the wifi with you-you don't have to hook to an external source). I already have a 12 volt socket near my radio in the front overhead. That's where I am plugging in the router. I am going to mount the camera in back over my bed, hanging under the overhead storage. Since the 12v socket back there is on an adjacent wall, I will probably just wire into the nearest light.

So far I am pleased with the set up. I seems to be as advertised. A little pricey, but I already wasted money on another wireless camera system, that was cheaper and almost worthless.

I thought about buying the components and setting it up myself. I think I might have saved $100 or so. But in the end, I decided that was a fair price to not have the uncertainty or aggravation of software, setup issues. They even had a password installed. If you follow the detailed instructions, it is a no-brainer and works right away.

My next trip is in April. I bought this more for backing up, but it will be nice to see traffic behind me as well. After my trip I will come back and give another report.

Has anyone mounted this camera from rvrearviewcamera.com to the outside near the center clearance light? It's supposed to be water proof.

Also, if anyone has an iPad Air have you tried it with this camera system? I don't have an iPhone 5 or 6 yet, still on the iPhone 4.

I am looking forward to trying my GoPro this spring. I have a suction cup mount, and it connects directly to the iPhone or iPad via it's own WiFi signal. Since I already have the iPhone mounted in my windshield anyway, I'm thinking this will work great without the need to buy anything new... My concern is whether or not the wifi signal is strong enough for the 50' distance between camera and iPhone.

@hibby Hi I installed my gopro first time inside the Airstream because of the 12 v power at the rear. I got the wifi inside the car. The problem was the cam looked trough the Moskito net and a tinted window. Guess the image was to dark at all. This year I mounted the gopro with a nop ( don't know the eg word) to the rear window during back up the trailer, and I lost wifi signal inside the TV. Good luck ! hope its working better for you.

Having tried this, I would be surprised if the WIFI signal would reach all the way to the inside of the Tow Vehicle. The WIFI signal on the GoPros is pretty weak.

Another issue is the delay, there is about a 2-3 second delay in the video feed, to me this would be dangerous.

Lastly, the battery on the GoPro while using WIFI would last at most an hour.

That's why I like the rvrearviewcamera solution (that and the fact that I already have an iphone6). The wifi security camera sends the signal to the front of my AS to the wifi router, which apparently amplifies it and sends it on to my iPhone. The wifi signal reading appears to be very strong. Of course I have only tested it in my backyard so far. Next month I will do a road test.
