A BIMBO could set up a convertor box. just read the instructions.

I made the conversion 2 months ago- best thing that ever happened to television.
call me a bimbo.

More stations for starters, excellent picture.
Some stations I now receive that I did not before, probably because these stations have placed their new tx antenna in newer places. It's all good
Then again some stations will loose their range until they raise the height of their tx antenna.
Anyway while camping I seldom watch tele, more into my flight sim and music. and peace and quiet.

My box does have a signal strength meter, works great, kinda like dialing in a dish.
And you can use rabbit ears with great success eliminating that aerodynamic ugly roof top antenna thing.Just get a picture frame antenna. to each his own.

The procedure is described on the following link: Troubleshooting Guide for Digital-to-Analog Converter Boxes and Digital Televisions

Good luck Jon AC4XE

Why would you use a converter box if you have a newer TV with a digital tuner? Seems redundant.

Thanks,
Terry

PS: Gunrunner, is a Bimbo a Bambi owner?

This is the Home Page for this topic. It speaks to the expected number of stations you can expect to receive in a given location and also answers many other questions

Terry;
I was calling myself a bimbo , NO one else. If a guy like me can hook up a convertor box--anyone can. A self inflicted insult- but you already knew that.

Now about the bimbo bambi thing. I am a fan of longer trailers. There are many reasons for me to not own a small trailer. one is pictured below.

We picked up a Digital HD TV a little over a year ago when camped in Destin Fl. There were local stations in Panama City broadcasting digitally at that time. Interestingly enough the digital signals were poor in the day time. Lots of picture freezes or not enough signal. Fast forward to night and the signal quality improved enough for the UHF digital signal to reach us.

As noted in other posts, you have to get a clear shot at the transmitter. If not, it's a no go. The move to digital will not be pain free. The antennas we use today may not be able to provide digital service in areas that can get by on analog service today.

The only "fix" will be better technology which means antenna improvements on our Airstreams.

Our 2007 had a HDTV ready Sony tv but no digital tuner. We bought two Dish network converter boxes with our coupons. There is no extra charge and they got a great rating. The box is simple to install just two cables, one in and one out, I had it wrong first so reversed them voila. It scans for channels and downloads programing and info. I get more channels than before the converter box. The box is super light and only the size of paperback book.

Good one! I knew that rear window was good for just more than just showing off. Do you need a red flag for that and is it still floatable? Looks pretty good from the bow! Or is that then stern? OMG, a rear insertion in the bathroon facilities~~~~ Careful Doorgunner!

Cheers,

Terry
