Troubleshooting TV cable

When I connect cable TV to my A/S via the little exterior connector next to the telephone connector at the left rear of the trailer I don't get a signal at the interior jack just above the refer. Has anyone had any experience troubleshooting this type of issue? Does the amplifier on button need to be off? Is the correct jack the same jack as the antenna jack? Thanks!

Amplifier off and the TV switched from antenna to cable usually thru the TV menu function.

Yes, you are correct, but if I get no cable signal to the TV it won't do me any good to go to the TV menu. Guess I wasn't too clear!

To use cable reception you should be connecting the TV's cable to the satellite (or cable) "in" port...that connects the TV to the incoming connection (whether it's cable or satellite)... The roof-top antenna is not used when you are connected to cable (or satellite). The booster button can be off (unlit). (It's not needed).

Once you do have a signal you will probably have to program your TV for it though the menu.

Oh, the joys of technology!
