Successful installation of wireless backup / rearview camera

I just ordered the same setup as you have from 4ucam.
How did you attach the cord from the camera to the antenna? I was thinking maybe using silacone sealant. Would that harm the aluminum skin.

I have been meaning to post an update to my installation, and I also have some new information.
I mounted the 4UCam system (as pictured) in place of one of my rear running lights. This gave me a centered position, as I am using this as a "wireless rear view mirror." It also provided electrical supply; the only catch is that I have to have my headlights on to actuate the system, but that is a great safety reminder for traveling anyway.
I had the opportunity to work with the 4UCam customer support people several weeks ago. Over the winter, I found that the interior of my camera housing had built up some condensation, drastically effecting the visuals. After contacting the distributor, I got a typical response via email. I was not happy with their "fix," and let them know. I immediately was contacted by phone by a gentleman that was interested in solving the problem. After a short conversation, he agreed to ship a replacement unit, so that I could install the replacement camera at the same time I reinstalled the new camera. The replacement came in two days, allowing me to make the switch right before a camping trip. Long story short, the new camera works great, and sports an additional sealing that would explain the purge of moisture with the old unit. I was extremely pleased that 4UCam would go outside of their normal warranty policy, contact me personally, and act so quickly. I would give this wireless system five stars, if asked.

Don, I am about to install the third camera of this model 9901T, as the first two displayed condensation within the housing. Until that design problem is resolved, I can't recommend this particular unit. That said, 4UCam has been great to work with, but I would have preferred to only install the product once.

One other question...Do you think the LED lights would blind or be distractive to cars behind the trailer?

I merely removed the running light, and used the electrical supply to it. I used sheet metal screws, then sealed with an appropriate roof sealant. Airtstream did not make the removal easy, nor is there much wire to work with; it took some dedication. LED lights; I hadn't given that any thought. I have not towed my trailer at night, but that is a good point, using this setup at night might get me busted. Hmmmmm.

Thanks for the reply -- I like the setup and think I will install the back-up camera (not sure if this fall or next spring).

We do tow at night or early in the AM --- I guess I would actually see the lights on the cop car with the back-up camera.

Has anyone ever installed a camera inside the trailer to view through the back window to the outside ? I know you wouldn't be able to use it with the auto lights reflecting into it at night but, during the daytime would it work ?
