Sony Power Problems

I have a 72 and just put in a new sony with ipod hook up. Everytime I switch on a light or the AC kicks on the sterio resets itself. (turns off then back on) I could see the voltage changing when the AC turns on, but a light? Are there surge protectors I could put inline of the 12V power to the radio? Thoughts?

i had that and found a bad connection in the 12v breaker box. wiggle some wires, that's how i found it. the lights would get dimmer/brighter when i touched the 12v feed at the buss bar.

What circuit is the sony wired to? Is it the same circuit as the lights? It sounds like a bad ground on the 12VDC side of the converter

I've had the exact same symptom, and I figured it was just voltage fluctuations from the old univolt, and newer solid state car stereos require "cleaner" power. It only happens when on battery power. doesn't happen on shore power.
