Smart TVs

Has anyone installed a 'smart TV' in thier airstream? Looks like most models are too big for an airstream, but the application seems to make sense:

LG Smart TV

Watch TV, but also play games and connect with Netflix, Hulu, and Youtube type apps over wifi. Seems to simplify life for connectivity in an Airstream.

Unlike 3D TV's, which were an undeniable flop, I think these things may take off in the next few years.

Interesting concept, but probably better suited for home use. The smart TV depends on a high speed wifi connection, something that you don't see very often at a RV park and almost always non existent when boondocking.

Another solution would be to connect your smart phone to your TV via HDMI cable. All of the features found on the smart TV can be found on smart phones plus you have the option of using wifi if available or a cellular connection.

WiFi

Richard, I agree that the wifi infrastructure isn't up to speed yet, but i think it'll get there to some degree. Maybe until then the smartphone is the best option.

I do like to hang out in the Airstream at home sometimes, and I'd get great wifi there.

We have both a smart Tv and a smart blue ray player. We stream movies with a service called autonet and use a Wilson cell phone booster for those. Boonbocking places. Have never not had a signle.

Richard's right: Wifi is going to be the weak link. More and more, parks are either going to pay-to-use systems or installing bandwidth limiters (strong signal, but slowed service) to prevent the satisfactory use of devices connecting to Netflix, Hulu, etc.
