Skyliner antenna handle

Is there anyway to replace a Skyliner base plate without removing the inside handle? Our plate needs replaced (leaks) but I cannot get the crank off to save my life. Worked on it for 3 hours today. Tried to drill out the set screw, hard stuff. Pulled, pushed, twisted. nothing works. Only thing left is to cut the shaft, and from what I can tell new shafts are not available.

Did a search on a replacement, and it seems there are no ideal options, besides the Skyliner seems to be as good of an antenna as there is.

Thanks, Paul.

Yeah, striped the set screw, than tried to drill it out, than the bit slid off the screw and came out the side of the handle.

The remaining part of the handle should be relatively soft metal. Can you cut it away without damaging the shaft? You could then get another handle at Skyliner TV antenna crankup handle E28351 [E28351] - $24.95 : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!.

You may even be able to locate one from someone who has removed a Skyliner. Some people just don't like the look of them.

Great antennas, though.

Best of luck!

After reading thru the file posted by Ganglin it looks like the entire shaft will drop out by removing pin 80405 which holds the worm. Than it is a matter of removing the ceiling plate to remove the shaft. At least I hope so. I think it will be a good deal easier to get the handle off if I put it in the vise. If not I'll put a post up to see if I can locate a shaft.

Thanks to all for the help.
