Roof antenna on '77

I was reading the owners book it looks like this is for a radio and TV, is that correct.

If so is do they work well or should it be upgraded?

Bob,
Yes, TV and radio. It's probably a Skyliner or Braund. Barker manufacturing had them for some time but I don't know the exact history. I used to have quite a few parts for them for those wanting to keep it original (They actually work very well). The Excella models even had electric models. Parts might still be available and you can call them and see what they have left. Mine works great and I don't plan to change it.

Good lubrication advisable in all areas that swivel. Binding in those areas lead to high forces necessary to raise antenna with resultant damage to plastic sector gear in head of unit. Replacement parts are available but time consuming to dismantle and replace. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It pays to climb on the trailer roof to get it properly lubricated. Use a small amount of grease that will stay in place for a while instead of light weight oil. Check the antenna booster amp located in the wall outlet if you want good signals in more remote locations.

I don't see anything else all I see is an antenna wire thru the wall?

What does it look like and where might I find it?

Bob,
It looks like a wall light switch except it has a button for boost and possibly a 12 volt power supply integrated with it. You might not have one so don't kill yourself searching for it. My 76 Sov. did not have one.
