replacing antenna on 76 Argosy

Does anyone know where to get a replacment antenae for an older unit. I removed the original antenae because it was looking pretty bad. The problem is the way it was mounted at the factory, the 3 screws that held it to the unit have nuts on the back of them, inside the wall. I don't know how to replace it without access from the inside of the unit, which means removing a wall section. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, George

On our 78 Minuet 6.7 there is a speaker mounted on the inside that allowed us access to the back of the radio antenna, (if you are talking about the radio antenna) that is street side of the trailer.

Thanks, just went out to the traler to check that one. My speaker is too high. Where do I get a replacement antenae with the same typen of mount?

If you find a replacement antenna - with the same mount that lines up with the screw holes. I'll buy one and pay for yours.

I looked everywhere and came up with nothing. Soaked the old base with 303 protectant and hope to remember to keep doing that. Believe you read the other thread about getting another mast and splitting the ball - it came out OK. Good luck with your search...

Got ours at an auto parts store a few years ago. It was a standard part/universal antenna mount.

Is this the one you found? About a 2.5 inch base - split ball with a spring mount mast...

That's a good one Gary, Dan, at Out Of Doors Mart says that he found th correct ones. He ordered a few of them, haven't come in yet. You may want to give him a call. Tell him george sent you. G

I was just going to post that Loudruff saying they found one sent me searching again. Believe I found one also. Ordered it today - will let you know when it comes in. Paid 11.00 including free shipping. They were 33.00 on the only other site that appeared to have them. Has a solid mast - not like the original but with a split ball I'll change half out to the extension shaft that we replaced ours with on the current base.

I'm a man of my word - so - since you posted first - if this antenna fits I'll buy you one.

It just popped into my head that maybe that antenna came from JC Whitney. We stopped at the IL store a while back while we were updating things and some of the "goodies" came from there. Maybe someone can check it out.

Glad your on tonight - just got back from the trailer and found a box waiting for me. Here's what was in it. You can thank Loudruff if it fits - they inspired a 2 hour hunt to find this puppy when they said they had found one.

I can't get out to the trailer until next Tuesday. As soon as I check it I'll post a link to the site. Don't want someone seeing this and wasting their money if it won't fit. Looking at it though - I'd say 99% it's the one.
