removing winegard vhf antenna arms

Has anyone removed only the large vhf arms on the winegard antenna?

I'm thinking about doing that to reduce weight (I have two other antennas also attached to the mast, all three together are heavy to winch up). Removing the large arms would also allow me to lay the directional 4g antenna flat when the mast is down.
