radio/cd player

I am looking suggestions regarding a radio/cd player for a 1976 Argosy. The wiring is above the dinette but there is no radio.

I suggest you buy one & hook it to the wiring.

Seriously, are you looking for brand-name considerations or best physical size or what?

If it is a mounting issue, a picture of the existing void would help.

Wal-Mart has a good selection of inexpensive AM/FM/CD/MP3 players. I think they have one for under $100 that has a port for a USB drive and connections for an iPod or other external MP3 player.

If you want a radio/cd player for your trailer, most of the major brands offer them with a detachable faceplate (you take the front off, and no one else can use it, good anti-theft feature) for around $100. If you want one with a remote, which in a car, at least to me, is the height of laziness, they go for $150-200. It is a handy thing in a trailer, as you don't have to get out of bed and walk to the front of the trailer to turn off the radio at night. I have personally had good experience with Sony, JVC, and Pioneer brands. If you don't have mounting brackets, you should be able to fab something up to keep the radio from sliding all over the compartment. You can get a universal mounting kit from most auto parts stores, that will contain brackets, and maybe some trim parts to make it look nice. If you don't want a bunch of stuff sliding into it while you are towing, you could always make a "box" out of thin plywood to protect the sides and top from falling objects.

radio/cd

Thanks everyone. I think I will just get a car stereo and modify it to fit the space.

External speakers?

I use my iPod or my wife's XM with portable speakers when camping. Work great. But my T@B had external speakers. I was wondering if anyone had rigged up something like that.

Multi Purpose Stereo/Radio/CD or MPS / Satellite Radio

Anyone have a system that combines Satellite Radio, REgular am/fm, cd or mp3 player/ etc.

Any experience... especially the satellite radio.

Do they work from remote area's?

As long as the area overhead is not obstructed.

I installed a Pioneer head unit, Sirius tuner, and aux input in my B-van right after I bought it. I also rewired it to have constant power off the camper's 12 volt system instead of the engine's 12volt accessory power.

The satellite radio works pretty much everywhere in the US. If you go into a tunnel, you'll lose the signal, of course. Heavy tree cover blocked it once for me, too - but I usually don't have that problem, either.
