Sams still has the Bose/Okyo System for $357. I liked the receiver because its long and small like a shoe box and fits in the overhead bin above the fridge. I bought a Phillips DVD player, was cheap but has the HDMI output which means only one cable from the DVD to the Vizio. When the TV faces the front Gaucho I can run the audio through the Bose system, but when I turn it around and put it in the bedroom I use the speakers in the TV. Wiring was a pain as I put the subwoofer under the sink and had to run wires under the trailer, but I have great sound and it's almost invisible.
Nairn,
I get the same thing while listening to coast to coast AM stations when I travel near high-powered electrical lines or sometimes when I pass tractor trailers (maybe CB interference). Not sure if there is much I can do since I am mobile.
In your case, is this a unit that has AM antena inputs or is it a car radio type with an internal antena?
If it has a place to plug in 2 wires for AM (most house units do), you can make a simple antena with wire and position it away from the interferance (see site below for making the antena). If it is a car radio and built in AM antena, the only thing that works is moving the radio away from interference or sometimes turning the radio may work but if it is mounted stationary, that will not work. I don't know much about filters but the article below mentions getting an inline filter that plugs in between the Univolt and the wall receptacle it is plugged into that may be able to help (really not sure on this though).
The radio is a new 12 Volt automotive radio with AM, FM, CD, and MPD.
The aerial is mounted externally on the trailer. The PO changed the original aerial at some point (probably ran into a tree and broke it).
This noise interference is when parked and tuned into a known strong AM signal.
Thanks, Bob
Is that a hinge on the top of the speaker box. I am about to upgrade my speakers and have the material for the box. If it is a hinge, how did you secure the bottom.

Reason: mispelled words
mwells,
Not to answer for Nash but looking at the top 2 photos in post #33, it looks like 2 90 degree angle brackets, one at the top and one at the bottom, doesn't look like it's hinged. Can see the top one in the first photo and both in the second.
BTW - Looks good Nash and I bet it sounds great!

I bought a Bose/Onkyo Combo system from Sams. Put the receiver in the overhead bin (above the Vizio 2"LCD) and the speakers on the front panels by the door and kitchen. There weren't any previous speakers installed so I started from scratch. Of course the small Bose speakers are offset by the subwoofer module that also houses the crossover. I mounted it under the sink and bought a cheap plastic cover panel from The Shack. Also put a small DVD player in the bin next to the receiver.
