King Dome feedback

Hello
We have the chance to get a KingDome Model 9702 for a real good deal ( at least that what we think).
Any inputs from owners of this unit will be a great help.
thanks

I had a KingDome installed on my 2006 Safari at the dealer in 2006. I use a Dish receiver that's usually in my shop when we hit the road. Quite frankly, I haven't used it for the past two years as my camping locations usually don't have electricity and I find that my iPad is adequate for checking on the news and providing reading material. Not sure about the model you're looking at, but mine requires that two satellites that need to be programed in and you have to switch depending on the channels you're watching. Setting up is pretty easy and switching between satellites is no big deal. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't bother with anything but a DVD player. The news is depressing and sports played by a bunch of overpaid athletes is no longer entertaining!

We have one, but not sure if same model. I have found that we are able to use it about 30-40% of the time. Usually there are to many trees blocking the signal. For what you will go though mounting it, I would not get it. JUst use a portable one. That is what we end up using most of the time.

Very interested in installing dish on AS. currently use direct TV dish on tripod . As I do a lot of dry camping I need a 12 volt system. I was looking @ the winegard travler Satellite RV - Winegard TRAV'LER Automatic Multi-Satellite HDTV Antennas Looked at the spec you need 120 volt wired to dish. Wondering if anyone has one that works of 12 volt system.

according to the manufacturer: Dome 15" high by 28" diameter Dish 13" high by 24" semicircular Weight 30 lbs Power 12 volts @ 4 amps.
Here is a copy of the manual and hope it helps

While the KingDome is 12V, my receiver requires 120v power to operate.
