Is 12v TV with AC Adapter Necessary

I'd like to replace the Samsung 22 inch TV in my 2014 23D with a larger screen size model. I noticed that the current TV has a 12 volt input connected to an AC/DC adapter.

It appears that the TV only runs when there is AC available, either from shore power or the inverter.

So is there any reason why I should buy a 12v TV. Samsung doesn't seem to offer a 12v model larger than 22 inch?

If you purchase (or make) a cigar-lighter adaptor plug, you can run it on your 12V battery! (which is why I bought a cheap 19" from WallyMart, along with a 12V SONY bluray/dvd player.)

My Insigna 22 inch came with both an AC plug and a DC plug. If yours didn't the DC plug is simple to make.

Just a warning, many RV's have converter/chargers that put out over 12 volts and not always a 'clean' DC. Solar systems can as well.

Many 12 volt TV's can be damaged by over voltage or noisy DC.

I had to put a 12 volt regulator/stabilizer on mine because the 14.2 volts from the charger blew fuses and actually melted the plastic plug connector. Now I have clean and stabile 12 volts for my electronics and don't need an inverter.
