Woodfox45 yup. I found a pretty good deal on the camera and will install it myself. That’s why I’m looking for info on how airstream does it.

I just completed the install after stressing about it for over a year, I removed the light and left it off. There was plenty of slack in the wiring to spice in the camera. entire process took less than one hour. Thank you for the advise in getting this job done.

This is awesome. The lights in the back. Is there always power to them or do they work as brakes, where lights and power go in only when engaged. Sorry this is a bit of a newbie question!

Do the rear lights have power even when not braking or backing up? Thanks so much for this post!

The clearance lights come on with the headlights/parking lights. Once on the camera has power.

Most modern pickups have a backup camera in the tailgate. That gives you good L/R alignment but can be hard to judge front/rear.
I considered this camera for temp use. It mounts with a magnet and is linked to your phone. Plop it on the outer bumper and aim at hitch. Just remember to take it off before driving away. Amazon

After two years, I love the camera inside the rear window. No weather, power is easy to find. I used the Garmin BC-30 to my Garmin RV 770 GPS. It's bluetooth. I'll say the signal is rock solid even working it's way out of the interior, through the front window, I'd guess. However, the resolution of the camera leaves a lot to be desired.
So, I've just ordered the HaloView 7108 camera and 7" monitor. I'm going to use the same inside mount for the camera.

I'll be adding another monitor up front, but I'll share the RAM mount that supports the TPMS currently. (More fun with RAM gadgets)
It will be an experiment to see if the Wi-Fi signal gets out of the trailer as well as the bluetooth did. I never seem to do things the easy way.
I'm going to keep the BC-30 aimed at the rear bumper. I'll piggyback it on the Haloview bracket. It's tiny and the GPS is there anyway. I like knowing how far I can back.

Alternative to drilling a hole

I chose not to drill a hole in the end cap and instead mounted the camera on a piece of aluminum angle attached to the top frame of the rear window. Connected the wiring to the license plate light feed.
