I built another trinket for the Airstream (!)
OK, it seems that around here one television project just leads to another one.
A week or so ago, I installed a new 24" television and DVD/BluRay player in the rear bedroom area (The Queen's Chambers) of our 23D (here 'tis: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f317...3d-162048.html ).
So, having that installation done, we were left with two remote controls to keep up with or drop on the floor. That would never do, so I built a nifty little holder for the remotes. It's constructed from baltic birch and laminated with the same Wilsonart 'Asian Sand' laminate that Airstream uses in the current International Serenity models. The insides of the pockets are lined with super-heavy felt, and the whole shebang is held to the wall with Velcro.
Things like this probably don't deserve to be posted, but it's kind of fun to do, and pretty useful, too. And, most importantly, The Queen is happy! Me too.

Nice job matching the laminate!
A Royal solution . . .
PS -- With the new TV and DVD/BlueRay player, how much total weight do you figure you have added to the coach? That Baltic birch is heavy stuff, but nice to work with.

That is a very nicely done addition.

Glad to see you are keeping your woodshed going. Did you get the water tank drain installed?
You may want to invest in a universal remote.

Less than 13 pounds (including the TV mount)... Changing out the toilet to a SeaLand 510 (full rim flush) probably added more than that. Anyway, we travel so light that a few pounds here and there is of no consequence. Yes, baltic birch is great stuff to work with... strong and stable, and a fraction of the weight of MDF (yuk!).

Very nice! On my list of "todo's" now! Btw, the AS dealer said the tvs in them are specially configured for them - I didn't get the details, but sounds like you had no issues. So front and rear tv/DVD systems are totally separate now?

Yes, Gary, the front television and DVD/BluRay system remains exactly as it came from the factory, except that I replaced the 22" TV with a higher quality 24-incher.
The rear bedroom television/DVD/BluRay system is completely separate and independent, except that the outside antenna connection is factory-provided.
As for the factory TVs being specially configured for them, that's a bit of a reach... the TVs are modified by being opened up by a technician somewhere and an "audio output cable" soldered in. Many of the better TVs that are readily available already have an "audio out" connection so further modification isn't needed.

Our 74 Argosy did not come with a tv, but after much thought I am considering a 12 volt with DVD player. So can you direct me on the brand and is it 12 volt? What would be your advise?
Thanks,
Chuck

I'm sorry, Check, that I can't really be any help to you on this. I don't even know what TV/DVD "combos" are available, so I can't do much more than do Google searches, and wouldn't be any better at it than you
Sorry that I couldn't help...

Best Buy used to sell their Insignia models with built in DVD. I purchased the 28 with DVD last year but they are now discontinued. Since the TV uses a power brick that converts to DC I just use a 12v cord straight to the TV.
Amazon has this 12v TV/DVD combo. There is also a 32" version
