How do I hook up my DirecTV receiver?

I see the satellite connection on the outside of the trailer.
In the locker with the Blu-ray player and stereo, there is a single RG6 cable labeled "sat".
Is this the cable from the satellite connection on the outside of the trailer? How do I get signal from the satellite receiver to the television? Are there more wires/cables in space occupied by the Blu-ray player and stereo? Do I need to take the black plastic panel off the front of the Blu-ray player and look?
There has got to be a way to get signal from the satellite receiver to the television, even if is a splitter shared with the Blu-ray.
There is some type of splitter there already. I thought it might be to get audio from the television or DVD player or stereo to come through all the speakers in the trailer.

You will need an HDMI cable and an HDMI selector switch.

The HDMI cable will go from the back of the Satellite receiver output to one of the inputs on the HDMI switch. Another HDMI cable will go from the Blu-Ray player output to a second input on the HDMI switch.

Finally an HDMI cable will go from the output on the HDMI switch to the television.

You need a second output on the HDMI switch if you have a second tv in the bedroom.

All of the HDMI cables should already be run in the trailer. Put you will need to add the HDMI switch so that you can select between inputs ( BLuRay, Satellite) and output (Front TV, Bedroom TV).

OK.
Thank you.
We'll do it next time. I forgot the DirecTV remote anyway.

Michael you will need a switch as mentioned. Set the Sat Receiver on the shelf above the BluRay. Hook up the Coax. Now the fun part.

Until you get another switch simply unplug the HDMI cable from the BluRay and plug it into the Sat RX. You won't be able to use the BluRay but both TV's will see the Sat RX as there is already a splitter someplace in the cabinet (current BluRay out to Split In and then 2 Split outs, 1 to each TV).

HDMI splitters from Amazon are pretty cheap. Usually less than $50. What you want to get is a input splitter. 2 or more inputs to one output. Hookup would be BluRay to Input 1, Sat RX to Input 2, Output the same HDMI cable that was into the original BluRay. You will usually need to get a couple of additional HDMI cables. They don't need to be very long.

Mine was a 3 input. On the third input I put a longer 6 ft HDMI cable so I could use my iPad to drive movies.

Lastly you can get a multi input/output splitter that will allow you to watch a different input on each TV. So one on BluRay and one on the Sat Rx. Larger box and usually has a remote control so that you can make input/output selections.

The satellite receiver is in a cabinet, so...
I will have to leave the door open while watching DirecTV? I reckon so because the receiver has an infrared remote-

I think most of the newer Directv receivers are also RF remote capable. You will need to check your manual. If it is, you can buy an RF remote for the Directv receiver.

If not, you can buy something like an RF harmony remote that has an IR blaster which you can place in the cabinet. It allows you to use an RF remote to send commands to your receiver via the IR blaster in the cabinet.

We have a Serenity model with frosted glass cabinet doors so our IR remote works through the doors.

We have lots of receivers lying around.

Sounds like it is all adding up-
HDMI splitter, remote, etc.

It shouldn't be too bad.

If you shop around you can find HDMI splitters for $20.00. Remote solutions for less than $40.00.

If you don't want to spend any money, just manually plug and unplug the HDMI input cable by hand. You can leave the cabinet open while watching TV and avoid paying for a remote.

However after hassling with this in that tight cabinet, you might spring for the splitter and remote.

If you still have a local radio shack (most went out of business already), they have tons of HDMI cables, switches, remotes, etc in discount bins. They are going for very very cheap as Radio Shack closes it's doors. The only problem is finding a Radio Shack that is still around.

Or...
Get the HDMI splitter and leave the cabinet open-
You gotta leave it open to use the Blu-ray and Sony car stereo remote anyway-
Our Radio Shack closed. They closed 22 in the state of Mississippi. That company is basically bankrupt.
I'm sure if I buy a splitter it will come from Amazon. I buy everything from Amazon because the price is always best and I don't have to go anywhere- just hit "enter" and it shows up on the doorstep-

You are basically conversing with a broke person-
I am virtually bankrupt-
Even $20 out of my budget is extreme and could possibly upset the apple cart-
56 car payments to go-
It'll all get better in February 2020- if something else doesn't break or go wrong-
