Help: Radio noise and ipod question

Just bought a 72 Safari with and radio and casette player. When the radio is on and I turn on the lights there is a humming noise. Will a new player solve the problem or is it more complicated than that? Also, will my ipod work in the cassette player?

You could install a new stereo with an ipod adaptor hardwired into the stereo. Just like they do for cars. I have a 72 Tradewind and use a Tivoli radio to play my ipod through. No interference at all.

Hi slimitch. I'm wondering if part of the problem isn't an old voltage converter (Univolt). But then the new guys don't have much better luck either - http://www.airforums.com/forums/f450...reo-36282.html.

They make iPod cassette adapters that insert into the cassette slot -- check any local iPod/mp3 player seller (eg, Best Buy).

Compact fluorescent lamps and/or dimmers generate huge amounts of electrical noise, which may be difficult to eliminate given the floating ground design of trailers in general. I'm looking for a solution to a similar problem -- hum in the stereo. Haven't tried a power conditioner yet, but that may be necessary.

Let me know if you have any luck controlling this problem.
