Hdw-07v

I recently installed a 27" HDTV in the AS. With reciever and powering the satellite dish, it draws too much juice to run off batteries for more than a couple of hours. Recently at a WBCCI rally, the generator power they provided went off right about dinner time each evening( 10pm).
So, I purchased the Vior HDW-07V. It plugs into the USB port on my laptop. Has it's own antenna, or, will conect to trailer antenna or cable. Full digital reception, and, DVR function. Picture is fantastic. We now have a low power TV source for watching the late show when electric is not readily available. $43 bucks on line.

here are some other options along the same line.

Newegg.com - Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950 with ATSC/NTSC Tuners USB TV stick - Retail

I haven't tried any of them but do buy from Newegg with good results.

WinTV

Ordered the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 950 from/through Amazon for $64. Installation on my Windows XP laptop went without a hitch. I can't get over how such a little gadget can do so much -- receive and record TV signals of all sorts. Oh, and it helps me justify the money I spent on a laptop for travel.

Cable reception (non-digital) at home is very slightly less 'clear' than with a large screen TV. In a few weeks we'll be able to try it in the Airstream for over-the-air digital reception -- Bandit is waiting in Georgia.

Thanks, Royce, for the recommendation.
