Have a 1973 with original batwing antenna. Radio fine but can only get 4 HD channels?
Any suggestions?

The last time I was at Camping World, they had an additional antenna which clips on to your existing one. I have been told it works well. We have an antenna, but no television in our trailer so I can't speak from personal experience.

The addition to the bat wing works well. We have used ours several times.

Most digital TV channels, including HD channels, are UHF (the old channels 14 and up), which require a different antenna than the old VFH channels (2-13). The clip-on is supposed to improve the signal on UHF channels. I do not have one, but it should help...

Are we talking about HD (High Definition) or Digital TV? The recent change was to the digital format. The clip on to the batwing is for digital tv not HD although some TV stations broadcast part of their programming as HD in the new digital format. I did not know that batwings were original equipment in '73. We have a Skyliner on our '80.

For digital I use the clip on antenna device, turn the antenna amplifier on and - since I have an older TV - I use a converter box. Works great for me and pulls in 3 or 4 more stations than before digital.

We put one on our rig last year -- easy to install and it does seem to work well. This past weekend in Gettysburg we picked up several digital stations -- the best thing is no more snow -- it either works or does not.

Our TV is a Toshiba -- and after auto tuning it lists the number available digital channels, Sometimes the channel won't come in with a "weak channel error message" Usually a quick rotation of the antenna does the trick. The picture is so much better than the old analog channels.
