Bedroom speakers cutting off with DVD

We have the upgraded A/V package for our '08 28 ft Safari. Then we insert a DVD in the head unit the bedroom speakers cut off and all of the sound comes through the speakers in the living room area and sub-woofer.

That's great for watching a movie from the couch, but when we want to swing the television around to watch a movie from the bedroom we're not going to have any sound.

Does anyone else have this problem or a solution for it?

Without knowing the details of your system, it sounds like it may be a setting on your Audio/DVD unit. Most of the recent units have a menu that you can access to control stereo vs. surround sound. You should check the owner's manual for more info.

Are you absoutely sure there is no sound coming out or could the rear speakers be acting as rear 5.1 surround speakers? If this is the case they won't always emit sound. It depends on the program you are watching.

Yup... there's no sound coming from them at all. I think it may be what you mentioned about a setting on the unit. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Maybe I'll look for a 10 year old kid, hand him the remote and watch him figure it out in less than 20 seconds.
