AV 101... help?

I posted this a few days ago, but perhaps my questions were too general and covered too many aspects of AV.

Trying to wire for a future system before reinstalling the skins on our 1969 31' Sovereign. So far, the plan is to run four sets of wire for the speakers. Can anyone give a gal a general explanation of the most straight forward way to pre-wire for a TV mid cabin and separate DVD/CD player which will likely be located in the overhead cabinets. Should it be a car stereo? Do you need a subwoofer for surround sound?
