Antenna Problems

The handle on my antenna is stuck and will not pull down.
Does any one have an exploded view of the antenna or recommendations on how to unstick the beast?
Thank You

The handle does not pull down, to my knowledge. It just turns clockwise or counter-clockwise. This action raises and lowers the mast. The outer ring, closer to the ceiling than the crank, turns the same directions rotates the entire assembly, as the antenna is quite directional and must be pointed at the broadcast tower.

Good Luck!

The handle on a Skyliner antenna pushes up towards the ceiling to set the rotation mode and pulls down for raising/lowering. Try a little jiggle as you are pulling. Pull the cover off the gears (as I recall only a couple of screws on top) and check for any binding of the shaft or gears. These need annual attention to ensure proper lubrication. I use a high temperature plumbing grease as I think it held up better in the hot temps on top of the roof. I'll check my Skyliner info when I get home.

Here's an exploded view of the Braund Skyliner Antenna and a set of vintage instrustions. Parts are probably still available. If you run into problems, let me know, I can dig some spares out of storage.

Hola Class

Yesterday afternoon I was going to show the trailer to some friends.

I wanted to "show off" the TV part so I started to raise the antenna. Wit a "pop" and a free spin I can not raise the antenna any longer. Is my 1970 Antenna unit the same as what has been written about here ???

Mine was rusted and the nylon gears were broken, so I decided to just go modern and install the newer batwing type. It is much easier to operate and I am getting a good signal - as compared to nothing before.

Antenna Update

I copied the manuals supplied here but didn't have the time to mess with the antenna. I met drag'nwagon at the VAC rally in Staunton VA. When he found out I was Beginner, he asked about the antenna.
Seems I had some cockpit problems about operation but I had atleast not damaged anything, however the antenna is stiff and will not lock up which indicates the need for more oil (in the up position) and a new gear.
Thanks for the help. Also (drag'nwagon ) I have secured the replacment parts for the water hose connection from a plumbing supply house in the neighborhood.
Thanks again for all the help.
Still, Beginner
