Hi Ted, welcome! I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm sure someone will chime in soon. You might also try the search feature at the top of the screen, in case someone else has already posted this question. Good luck!

Hello Ted and welcome to the Forums! I haven't encountered this particular problem but let's keep this thread going and see if heavier site traffic in the later afternoon/evening brings any recognition.
First off though -- is it a Winegard batwing antenna?

I don't want to insult your intelligence, Ted, but I have to ask the question! Are you pulling down on the knob before you try to turn it? (OUCH! That hurt!). If you are and the antennae isn't turning, is the knob turning? Will make a difference on what the problem may be. Let us know. (sorry about the insult...but I had to askº.

Welcome Ted
Greetings Ted and welcome to the forums. There are some good questions as noted above which will help forum members perhaps help with your problem. I am assuming (I hate that word) that it did at one time work, is that correct? When you pull down the turn-knob (directional do-hicky thing) does it turn and not the batwing? It could be the inner pin has sheared. In any case, the quick fix to your problem is to have someone sit inside your AS and as you move it sround your campsite they can check the reception and once they have a good picture, park it there! See how great this forum is!

Welcome to the forums. I wish I could help you but with each Airstream I have owned one of the first projects was to remove the TV antenna. There is a mess of gears up there, try climbing up on the roof, carefully, pull the cap and check it out. You will find complete diagrams of the gear assembly here, use the search function.

Hi Ted,
I you can give us an idea of which antenna you have it would help in narrowing down the repairs. Here is a link to Winegard Odds are pretty good that your antenna is one of theirs. There should be a model number either on the antenna itself or possibly on some paperwork that came with your unit. One of my Airstreams had a sticker inside the pantry door that listed all the installed equipment

Ted, I had a similar problem on my 2000 Safari. I solved it by raising the antenna and then climbing onto the roof with a can of WD-40. I carefully lubricated the antenna base and then carefully rotated the antenna back and forth while still on the roof. It seemed to be stuck from an accumulation of dirt.

Gee all I have is a nub and chunk of arm left above the roof on mine - I am curious to put a tracking solar panel back where the antenna was intended to go...
