When I wanted to run coax on my '70 Safari I just drilled a hole in the refer vent and fed the wire down to the bottom of the refrigerator area. Piece of cake! Now I am trying the same thing on my '78 Ambassador and it wont go! After hours of poking, prodding and fishing with hooked wires etc. I have given up. Is there some kind of obstruction in the vent on this model? The coax seems to go no further than a few inches down the stack. I would appreciate advice from those who are familiar with the refer on this model.
On my '86 there is a heavy wire mesh screen inside the refrigerator vent. A PO lifted up a corner of same and snaked a lenght of coax on down through. When replacing the antenna, I discovered the old coax, still intact, in the hole in the roof, so I used it. It was surprisingly hard to pull out the coax through the screen, so I cannot imagine how they fed it down through to start with.
