A/V System is overheating

I have a 2004 34' With the lounge slide. The TV and surround system are built in above the front windows. I have a severe overheating problem when playing DVD's. About half way through a movie it begins skipping and then stops playing. I partially removed the unit and it was very hot and smelled like something was burning. I can only watch movies if I pull the unit about half way out. The space for the DVD-Surround sound player is very tight with no vents. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

I have an 04 and though I don't have the DVD entertainment system, I can tell you that after the unit runs a while, it is too hot to touch. I think you player is dying, but the heat would seem somewhat normal, odd as that might sound.

I guess you're right. I don't understand why Airstream would install an expensive electronic item in space so small and not make some attempt to ventilate. It is bound to fail.

I agree. In my roof locker storage next to the radio, there is a small hole. I know the area is not air tight, but it does get pretty darn warm in there!
