'76 TV adapter

Hi, This is my first post here and I hope I'm putting it in the right section. We have a '76 Soviergn we're fixing up to live in. Can anyone tell me where I might find a plug to fit the antenna wall outlet? The recepticle is in the wedge shaped wall unit next to the 12 V outlet. I'm sure this question has been asked before but I'd appreciate any help anyone can give.

Thanks,

Chip

Hi, yes it's a 2 pin plug. I have to go to town in the morning and I'll ask at radio Shack. I love this site already:-) We're getting this thing ready to live in full time. We'll just keep it in one place I think. It's time to shrink our lives down!

As I understand it, those plugs are a coveted item and no longer available. On my '74 I adapted a 75 to 300 ohm twin lead to coax adapter as today's TV's don't accept twin lead.

Could you post more information about how you made the modification?

chip, i looked and looked and could not find what you need. i don't think radio shack will have the plug.

you might find a banana plug that would fit like this:

CBI Banana Plug Connector from zZounds.com!

but why go nuts finding out if it's the right one?

i'd conver it to the coax like suggested.

if you can get a replacement plate it would be easy to just wire in a 300 to 75 ohm transformer.

or, drill 2 holes into the plate. get some 1/2 " x 32 machine screws and put the flat twinlead mounted to the back and the barrel transformer on the other side of the screws in front.

transformer:

I think this is the plug you are talking about.

Click here for a link to the plug.

Please keep in mind, we do ship US Mail and our shpping policy is " we charge what they charge plus $3.00" so for small parts like this, we will pass the savings back to you.

I did this in our rear bedroom before replacing the antenna. I put the adapter from Radio Shack inside the wall, drilled a hole for a barrel connector in the "switchplate", and stuck the barrel connector through the hole. The tv hooked up to the barrel connector via 75 ohm coax.

Using that plug, I clipped the spade ends off the 75/300 ohm adapter and stuck the stripped leads into the pin holes (you'll see when you dissassemble the plug). This is exactly how a length of twin lead would be installed into the plug. Worked great.
