RADIO or CD - Alarm clock

Now I'm totally ignorant about sound systems, etc. However in my Lexus the radio actually had an "Alarm Clock" feature. Odd in a car, but now much missed in my 2006 Safari 25 FB SE. Using a regular clock radio inside is problematic because of poor reception, plus power outages.

I'd very much like to add a timer or something to my radio or my CD player so that I can get a pleasant but loud wake-up.

Drawings or pictures would be appreciated... remember it's idiot level!
Would I be better off just paying someone to do it for me?

Paula

Neat question - I'm interested too, my cell phone is the only alarm usually available and I can sleep through it no problem!

Looks like a 12V dedicated programmable digital timer runs $75 on eBay or other store, would have to break the hot wire to the radio and have it come back on at the preset time - maybe loose station memory or CD play command from power loss...

Also founf a neat add-on circuit board that with a little wizardry one could make a $20 one-touch 60 minute 'sleep' timer button with this...

Why don't you get a clock radio that plays disks or Ipod and radio? Wouldn't that be cheaper and easier?

Hey Paula why not have someone from your service phone you?

IPod Touch would be the way to go - very loud (multi alarm setting with snooze feature) or you could also set it on a IPod speaker stand.

Well,I think it's a great idea; that way you won't miss that important exit!

I just use this, both at home and in the Airstream:
Amazon.com: Equity SkyScan Atomic Bedside Clock (31981): Electronics
Time, temperature, day and date, and a satellite-synched time of day. Runs on a couple of AAA batteries that last about a year and a half. It's about the size of the palm of my hand.

Hi, back in the days when I had to work, I used [still have] a clock radio / CD player. I set it up to wake me up with the music of my choice. It actually would let me pick the track on the CD for my wake up call. Much nicer to wake up to nice music instead of some stupid noise maker. [my opinion]

SONY Model # ICF-CD820 Manufactured June 1999

This unit still works, but I don't.

Question

What's an alarm clock, and what do you use it for?
