Power for Microwave

Hi,

Thinking of replacing my oven with stove top and convection microwave below. Question is where do I get the power to the microwave? is there a plug somewhere under the counter? and is there a dedicated fuse for this?

thanks in advance for any advice.

James

Microwave if you currently have one is on a dedicated 20 amp circuit breaker (per code).
If that power is on the “wrong” side of your trailer then it is best to run a piece of 12awg romex from the 20amp breaker in the panel box to the microwaves new location.

There is a chase that runs under the floor mid-ship on most Airstreams. You can run the romex through there. (Not easy but can be done)

If the microwave is a new install (as in your trailer never had one) then you are going to need to find space in the electrical panel to add a 20 amp circuit breaker and run a 12 awg wire from said breaker to the microwave. I guess if you had no other option you could add microwave to a low used existing circuit (not your first or second choice).

Remember your trailer only has a 30 amp supply so adding a microwave if your unit does not currently have only may create problems.

Disclaimer: If you do not know what you are doing DO BE STUPID! Get some help from someone who “thinks” they know what they are doing.
