Magic Chef Oven 1968: tips?!
Trying to figure out the oven in my '68 Overlander. It's a Magic Chef (oven only, the range is built into the counter on the road side) and I can't for the life of me find a model number. I can't make heads or tails of how the pilots work, and have not been able to get the thing working. Anyone out there have a service manual for this type oven, or have any guidance?
Thanks!
....and here's a photo of it:

I have a 66 Tradewind with a Magic Chef range. I had some problems getting my oven to work. The owners manual was not very helpful as it had either an error in the procedure or I just did not understand it the way they wrote it. Anyhow I wrote my own procedure about how to operate the oven. Here is the link:

I hope this helps you out some.
Good luck, Dan

Do you have gas at the oven?
Have you located the pilot assembly?
Can you light the pilot manually? ( with a match)

Thanks all for the tips! TouringDan is the oven the same even if it doesn't have the range built into the top?
And, TG Twinkie, the gas is on, I've located the pilot, but can't get the pilot to light.
My dad has been helping me, and he builds kilns for ceramics so has a good working knowledge of gas assemblies and pilots, but he can't figure it out either.
Any other suggestions out there?

Oven in A/S
Have you tested to make sure you have propane to the oven? Are you aware that there should be a line shutoff beneath the belly pan of your trailer? One for the Furnace, One for the Refer, One for the Water Heater, One for the Stove, and one for the Oven? It may be that any one are in the off position, making no propane to the oven but propane available to other appliances. Check them all! Hope this helps. Ed
P.S. Could also be a valve on the Oven Control keeping the oven from lighting!

Two things you might try. The thermocouple might have corrosion on it, or soot and carbon build up. That build up reduces its ability to generate the small amount of current needed to open the gas valve. Scrub it until bright with a brass wire brush and/or steel wool. When I did that with mine the pilot light lit and stayed lit.
Also, check behind the oven for a kinked gas line. You might not be getting enough or no gas.

Unless it is painted metal (I imagine it is chromed), take the cook top outdoors and spray it with oven cleaner. Then brush and hose off with water.
