Dickinson Mediterranean Stove/Oven
Has anyone had any recent experience with this three burner stove top/oven by both installing it and and/or using it?

If you don't have any luck here, you might try searching the sailing forums. You might find more experience with them amongst sailors than 'streamers.

We are contemplating installing this Dickinson marine stove in both our 23D and our Classic trailers. Both installations will probably require some cabinet tweaking and perhaps some custom metal work.
We will not be using the gimbal mounting.
Thus the request for Airstream related experiences.

Wow, very nice looking unit. Though the price is out of a working mans budget..

Note that Sure Marine Service in the Seattle area has a much more reasonable price for the all stainless steel Dickinson versus the existing $900+ Atwood list price for plain steel.
In both trailers, the porcelain coating was not properly applied to the grates over the burners. The 23D has a shinny metal lid while the Classic has a plain black lid to which Airstream glued matching pieces of Corian. The guts are the same. The lid hinges failed on the Classic and the dealer never obtained warranty replacement parts in over two years since new.

Just purchased one from Steveston Marine near Granville Island (Vancouver). Sick of the Amana and it's cheap design/parts breaking. Spent some time looking at the new models from Atwood and Suburban at an rv dealer, and while the quality is a touch better than the Amana, not enough better to justify the cost. The Dickinson is definitely a quality stove, 5 minutes playing with it and getting a sale price, jumped on it. Dickinson is a BC company, great to buy local. It's going to be nice to cook on a real stove again.

Our new stove is installed! We haven't had a chance to use it yet, but already there are things I love and things I dislike. The big love is the quality and higher btu ratings.
Dis-likes:
- the range of the burner controls are not as good as I expected, maybe they can be fine tuned
- the inset of the grill limits cook space, with the amana larger pots could over hang the stove, with the Dickinson they have to fit inside
- not and issue with Dickinson, but the install is a bit undesirable. Space underneath, further inset to the counter top, not quite a match for the international cabinetry.
Likes:
- very high quality compared to any regular rv range, puts them all to shame. Almost feels like a range I would have in a home, just smaller.
- a real broiler in the oven
Here nor there:
- oven is a bit smaller in volume than the amana. It looks much smaller, but it is in fact wider but not as deep.

With the hickory spice rack above the stove in both our Classic and the 23D, the largest burner on the Dickinson is in the rear and could toast the spices and perhaps damage the wood rack itself.
So we cancelled the two Dickinson units we had on order and now have the first Dometic CU434 installed in the 23D with one in stock for the Classic later this summer. The lift up glass lid (above the three burners with the hottest in front) shields the spice rack from normal cooktop operations. The only cooking issue is that the oven is 14" wide inside on the CU434 whereas the OEM stove was 15.5" wide inside. They are both the same height and depth. The CU434 spark ignition is wired into the 12Vdc of the trailer and there is also a light inside the oven.
The 23D is a narrow body, so the counter tops are 2" shallower than on the wide body 25' and longer Airstreams. Our installer (A&P Vintage Trailer Works) made hickory side panels to match the other custom work in the trailer, so it looks appropriate.
We also installed a magnetic stainless steel side splash panel beside the stove. We had to install hickory side spacers for the Vitrifrigo refrigerator installation.
