Commercial Range

I am about to start the renovation of my newly acquired 1979 Excella 500 and I'm looking for a range. There are plenty of "RV" ranges that run on LP, but I'm wondering why, other than price, I couldn't use a commercial 24" range like this CPG or a Vulcan?

Are those electric? If so they may be 220 volt, if not they may run on natural gas, not lp. Not sure, though!

Commercial Range

Any natural gas appliance can be converted to LP. Some even come with two sets of orifaces. Weight may be an issue. Balancing the load left to right does matter as much as front to rear.

The amount of heat that a commercial range produces needs to be taken into consideration. A custom range hood would be needed to remove the extra heat. Make up air would be needed for the powerful range hood. I suspect that extra clearances would be needed between the walls and the adjacent cabinets because the extra heat that a commercial range puts out.

Jade (ultra top shelf) makes an 18" range that would be awesome in an Aitstream. Not sure abiut the weight. We have one in our home... it is a huge thing weighing more than 1500 pounds.

I just chatted with Wally at Hoffman Architecture in Santa Barbara and he recommends Bertazzoni Professional Series PRO244GASXLP 24" Gas Range, Sealed Burners - LP.

I'd be concerned about the weight of the range. Remember, you have a limited amount of cargo capacity in any RV!

While many common natural gas appliances have conversion kits for LP, I'm not so sure about an exotic, imported appliance such as this one.

Also, it appears to need 110 AC current to work. Will you always be able to provide this via shore power or inverter?

Someone else already mentioned the issue of heat gain and ventilation.

Finally, will you have the fridge capacity to carry the quantity and type of food that warrants such a fancy range?

We are also going to replace our range. I've been looking at those offered for marine use. Check out Force10
