Question Can't get cable channels on TV

What is the secret to getting cable tv on Samsung digital tv in 2009 flying cloud? Do I need a "box" or what?

Did you turn off the power on the antenna booster? You have to do that to get cable.

Tom, there are at least two versions of the antenna booster. Mine was not documented in the manual. As Dave mentioned, one needs the booster turned off. On my unit, I have to repeatedly push the button until "park cable" LED is illuminated.

You also need to ensure that the TV signal source is set to cable in the TV's menu system.

Check the back of the TV. On our 09, there are two separate coax inputs, one for antenna channels and the other for cable.

We have to switch the input cable from the wall between the two depending on the availability of cable tv.

I purchased a "push-on" cable connector to make it easier. No fumbling with trying to thread and tighten the connector in the tight space on the back of the TV.

Regards,

JD

In the Samsung menu, do you have "cable" or "air" selected?

You will get a digital signal thru your antenna which is sometimes hard to distinguish from HD thru a cable feed.

We got our Samsung in 2011 and do not need a box.

After making sure your coax cable input is to the jack marked "cable" on the back of the TV, and that "cable" is selected from your setup menu, you may also have to do a channel scan, just as you do with the antenna, so your TV knows which cable channels are available.

Push the little black button on the cable wall plate. That will turn on the antenna booster
