AC fan runs, but when cooling total power lose

I was doing some work outside and if my chop saw into the exterior plug of my AS, upon doing so my wife came out and said the AC is acting funny. So now the fan runs ok, but when the unit goes into actual cooling mode it almost dies out completely. I checked all the fuses and breakers are all good, I am at my end of things that I can think to check at this point. We need the AC, as we are full timers in south Florida and don't know what else to do before calling an expensive repairman. Anyone else had this issue? Also, the shore power I am plugged into is ran from a near by building and I think it has other items on our 30 amp breaker as well. PLEASE HELP! Thanks in advance guys

If your shore power is plugged into a 15amp circuit, the A/C will require every bit of power on that circuit. You can't run anything else, and nothing else can be plugged into the same circuit. You're even pushing it having your converter running to charge the house batteries.

If your shore power is plugged into a 20amp circuit you can run a few other things (such as the converter), but it's still best if you start the A/C while nothing else is running, and then add the other loads.

If the compressor is not starting, you probably have a bad start capacitor. How old is the a/c? I don't know if using the saw caused it. Might just be coincidence. Find your a/c manual and look up the capacitors. There will be two or three. Get the specs and replace them all. They will be about $10 each and should be in stock at any Grainger or HVAC supply store. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, any a/c tech can do it.
