Does anyone know how hard it would be to replace the stock 1000W inverter in my 2016 FC with the Zamp 2000W.
Never mind. I just read the other posts where this inverter cannot be hard wired.

USELESS!

Not what I want to do and I'm reluctant to jimmy rig the wiring to connect it to my Progressive Dynamics charger/converter.

Zamp has a pro model ZP-PS2000PRO for around $1200 that has a built in charger and transfer switch for hard wiring. For that price I'd probably go with Magnum or Victron, or an AIMS for cheaper.

But that makes my Progressive Dynamics converter upgrade obsolete, right? If so, I now have this and the Zamp for sale.
Most Zamp models only have a duplex or a pair of them. Our newest Samlex pure sine models can be either hard wired or use the duplexes or BOTH! Less than half the price of an inverter/charger since you already have a great converter/charger.

Thanks for the heads up about the further price reduction. I just contacted Lowes and they honored the new price on the 1000w inverter I ordered on Nov 13. They credited my account $65.80 ($197.40-$131.60).

I just ordered a second 1000w inverter for my 95 34 footer for $131.60.

I plan to plug into it and hard wire it to the panel box just like on my Tradewind. I will use a simple 3 way switch. Depending on the switch position, the power to the box will either come from shore/generator or from the 1000w inverter.

Fantastic Dan. Do you have pictures of the setup on your Tradewind?

I bought the 1000W inverter.

What I think I'll do is plug a 12/3 extension cord into the inverter, cut off the female end exposing the wires and run the cord to a new junction box and receptacle dedicated just for the inverter where the television is. I'll mount the on/off switch next to the receptacle so I can turn on the inverter and watch tv and then turn it off when I'm not. That setup should make it safe.

I will post photos when I finish my installation.

You don't need #12 wire. 14/3 is fine; good for 15 amps. Power/voltage = amps, so you can't get more than 8.5 amps from your 1000w inverter.

I have not installed the 1000w Zamp inverter in the Tradewind yet, but I have installed the 3 way switch (photo 1). When the switch is down power to the panel box will come from either shore power or my 1000w generator, whatever is connected to my 15 amp connector at the rear of the Tradewind (photo 2). Note that I have replaced the 30 amp power supply to the panel box with only a 15 amp power supply. When the switch is up power to the panel box will come from the 1,000w Zamp inverter. The yellow plug will connect to the Zamp inverter.

I have finally completed the installation of the 1,000 watt Zamp pure sine inverter (photo 1). I installed it right next to my two golf cart batteries using the 2 foot long cables that were supplied with the inverter. I used a couple of small angle brackets to secure it to the wood base. I had just enough room to install it next to the batteries. I may upgrade to a larger inverter when I upgrade the batteries to lithium ion as I will then have the room to do so.

When 15 amp power is connected via shore power or from my generator the 3 way switch will be down and the converter will be plugged in so the batteries can be charged as needed (photo 2).

When we are boondocking and no power is connected, the 3 way switch will be positioned up and the converter will need to be unplugged (photo 3). The inverter will then need to be turned on using either the switch on the inverter or the hard wired remote controlled switch on the inside of the bathroom cabinet door (photo 4). The remote controlled switch will be real handy as it will allow us to easily turn on the inverter when we need to use the receptacles and then turned off so we don't drain the batteries unnecessarily.

Here are some additional pictures. Photo 1 shows my Progressive Dynamics 9200 series converter that I got from Randy at Best Converter. Photo 2 is of the
Zamp inverter and the two golf cart batteries. The white wire connected to the inverter on the left side is the hard wired remote control. Photo 3 shows the left side of the inverter secured to the battery floor. Photo 4 shows the right side of the inverter secured to the battery floor.

Thanks again for making me aware of the great buy on the Zamp inverters available from Lowes.

I have a different setup for my AC power switching using a DPDT relay controlled by a switch.
One thing I will mention is that it looks like your AC switching are standard wall switches SPDT. You could run into trouble if you are not using a DPDT switch to switch both legs of the power Hot & Neutral.
If you just switch the hot lead and leave all the neutrals tied together, if there is a wiring error and one of your devices or shore power has the neutral and hot reversed, you could have a fried device or worse a hot chassis.
Use caution when playing with AC wiring.
