Will two 6v batteries fit on a 16' Bambi Sport?

I am looking to the future of replacing my two 12v batteries with two 6v. I think the 6v volts are bigger, so I wonder if anyone with a 16' Bambi has done this and if there were problems getting them to fit on the frame. Also, are there any other considerations to be aware of .... Like the inverter/ converter recognizing the change?
