What to do with old converter?

I just replaced a parallax 7355 converter in my AS. I was wondering what most people do with theirs when they're done. It's still working, and I hate to just throw it away. Any suggestions? Does anybody want it for the cost of shipping?

Matt

Matt:

I have seen used converters posted on Craiglist before. You might want to sell it there.

If you can't sell it, strip it and recycle the metal and any other materials that can be recycled.

Matt,
Post it here in the classifieds. Somebody will take it. That's how I got rid of my old one.

Someone wanted mine and I sent it for the shipping. FedEx threw it over his fence onto the driveway-didn't hurt it though.

They make great power supplies for low voltage lighting inside our outside the house. A 30A converter can power about 20 or so outside 12V lights. Of course it depends on the wattage of the lamps. The overvoltge that is usually present ( 14-15V) is nice when you're running long runs of cable. The lamps then actually get 12V.

Nice advice Area 63,

I just did an "exchange" of my Parallax for an Inteli-Power something or other 1960 plus Wizard....

Have been advised to trash the 7-year-old Paralax. Mine boiled the batteries...do not wish to do that to any other.

Trash, OK, but am surprised that Airsteam would "provide" an inferior product.

The converters are standard RV converters they get "off the shelf". Just think how bored we would all be if we didn't have anything to upgrade.

Am no authority....just go on advice. Maybe you are an "innocent"

The Inteli-power is "smart" and does not "boil" the batteries, apparently.

Bless your bliss (trust in Thor/Airstream)

I haven't had to add a drop of water to our battery since we switched to the Intellipower, so they are obviously better.

I do believe that Airsream trailers are well engineered for ease of towing. Kind of disappointed in the "acoutrements"--oven has never worked, step bolt has come out twice, converter (latest) had to be replaced.......

Dometic "fixed" the refrig under recall.....is that baffle, box, a fix?????

For a quality coach, I am a little disappointed.
