What pwr.supply can I plug into?

I have a 1983 Excella 31' I am new at this and need some advice. Tha power plug on the trailer I plug into campgrounds looks like a heavy 220v plug with a adapter to 110v, when I bought this it had the adapter hooked on so I have been only using the 110v not to mess anything up ,but when I turn on the A\C it draws too much power and will not work great. my question is can I use this plug without the 110v adapter and plug into higher pwr., amp.,220v? Please any help will be great as I am leaving for Hatteras in 2 weeks! Glenn

Can you post a picture of your plug? I have never seen an Airstream with a 240VAC set-up. Plus, the only RV's that use a 240VAC plug are the bigger MoHos and 5th wheels that use a 4 prong 50 amp plug.

What you should have is a 3 prong 30 amp 120VAC plug that is RV-specific.

A picture is worth a thousand words though. You might check it by seeing how the umbilical's wires are connected into your AC breaker box. If the black lead goes to the hot bus (breakers), white goes to the neutral bus and the green or bare wire to the ground bus, then you have a 120AC set-up.

The plug on your trailer is most likely a 30 amp 110 volt RV plug. You should be fine plugging it into an RV Park outlet. The plug should look like this:


An adapter like this:

allows you to plug into a 15 amp outlet.
It does not convert 220 to 110.
